Steve Hunter is a Managing Director of TM Capital LLC, headquartered in our Atlanta office. Steve leads the firm’s Financial Sponsor practice where he is responsible for managing and growing the firm’s business with private equity firms. During Steve’s 25+ year career, he has developed an extensive network of senior level relationships with private equity firms across the United States and has worked with clients in a broad range of industries, including industrial manufacturing, equipment dealerships, business services and consumer.
Prior to joining TM, Steve was a Managing Director with Greene Holcomb Fisher, which was acquired by BMO Capital Markets. While at GHF, Steve opened the Atlanta office and built and led the firm’s private equity coverage group. Prior to joining Greene Holcomb Fisher, Steve was a managing director at Morgan Keegan, a middle-market investment banking firm, where he co-led the firm’s Industrial and Financial Sponsor Coverage efforts. Mr. Hunter has also worked at Robertson Stephens, Alex. Brown & Sons and The Robinson-Humphrey Company.
Until its successful sale to Farmers Bank Corp. (NASDAQ: FMNB) in January 2023, Steve served on the Board of Directors, including the Audit and Compensation Committees, of Emclaire Financial Corp. (NASDAQ: EMCF), the holding company for The Farmers National Bank of Emlenton, a nationally chartered, FDIC-insured community commercial bank with 19 locations headquartered in Emlenton, Pennsylvania. Steve is also on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta Chapter of the Association for Corporate Growth and was on the national Association of Corporate Growth planning committee for the 2022 Intergrowth conference. Steve grew up around a multi-location regional heavy truck dealership, Hunter Truck Sales, and continues to serve as an advisor to the owners of the business.
Steve received an MBA from Harvard Business School and a B.A., magna cum laude with Honors in Economics, from Bucknell University.
Steve lives in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta with his wife, three kids and two dogs. Steve enjoys golf, skiing, Steelers football, Braves baseball, cooking on the Big Green Egg and spending time out on the water on the South Carolina coast.
